Bullion is the simplest thing we buy and the easiest to price badly. A one-ounce bar is worth the spot rate less a spread, and the only question that matters is how wide that spread is. Ours is quoted out loud before you decide anything, along with the spot we are working from at that hour.
We take PAMP and Credit Suisse bars, gold coins, generic rounds, Perth Mint issues and the odd hallmark nobody recognises — the last group simply gets tested rather than turned away. Assay cards help but their absence costs you nothing on a bar that tests correctly.
For larger positions we can arrange a wire rather than counting cash across a table, and every transaction leaves with paperwork suitable for estate or tax records.
