We buy collections

Collections are built over a lifetime and sold in an afternoon, which is exactly where value disappears. Someone spent forty years filling those albums, and the whole point of the exercise is that a handful of holes were harder to fill than the rest. A buyer who prices the binder as a binder is counting on you not knowing which ones.

We sort. Coins get gone through date by date and mint mark by mint mark; stamps get checked for the issues that carry premiums and for the condition factors — centring, gum, perforations — that decide whether a stamp is worth a dollar or a hundred. It takes longer, and it is the only honest way to do it.

If a collection is large, we will do the sorting at our office with you present or leave a written valuation before anything changes hands. There is no obligation attached to either.
