Cabinet porcelain is priced one piece at a time, because that is how it sells. A shelf of thirty figurines usually contains three that matter and twenty-seven that do not, and any buyer who quotes a single figure for the shelf is protecting themselves at your expense.
Meissen and Dresden figures, Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grøndahl, Herend animals, Rosenthal and Nymphenburg pieces all have their own followings. Marks were widely imitated, particularly the Meissen crossed swords, so each piece gets checked properly — the difference between an original and a period imitation runs into hundreds.
Damage matters more here than anywhere else in the china world. A restored finger on a figurine can halve its value, so we look under UV light where it is warranted and show you what turns up.
